Utah students and staff who don’t wear masks in schools can be charged with a misdemeanor
August 23, 2020
Students and staff in Utah who don’t wear a mask in K-12 schools in accordance with the governor’s mandate can be charged with a misdemeanor.
If a criminal prosecution is sought, though, a school employee or a student — including those in kindergarten — could face a class B misdemeanor. That is the standard for any violation of a public health order, Lehnardt added. And it can be punished with a sentence of up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. That is the same level of charge, for example, as a first offense for driving drunk.
DYI: K through 12th grade – this means Utah has the potential for a Kindergarten student to receive a misdemeanor citation? Good Lord this Governor needs to be thrown out of office by a recall election. Are these Governor’s competing to see who can get away with the most moronic executive orders? And why is the State legislator’s so silent with this so obvious overreach? Appears that local elections are now taking center stage if you want to stop Governor’s from becoming de-facto dictators you will need to put a fire under the asses of your local Senate and House Legislator. Get organized people if you don’t once Governor’s have a taste of unbridled power God only knows what they will do next.
