Hidden Tax
Inflation
Purchasing Power of a Dollar

DYI: Have you wondered why the BLS numbers never seem to make any sense when it comes to your own reality?  There is nothing wrong with you this government agency has been cooking the books since 1982 thus understating inflation by a larger and larger amount, slowly enough not to spark the anger of our citizens.  What is the real number?

The Chapwood Index is 500 items from the mundane – such as toothpaste, shoe polish etc. – to the expensive – car purchase, house purchase, college costs etc. and everything between.  Chapwood tracks once per year the top 50 cities in the U.S. and list this them individually.  Chapwood doesn’t average the 50 cities providing a headline number but eye balling it appears over the last 5 years the average annual nationwide inflation is around 10%!  Wow!

Below is a chart created from the Bureau of LIES & Statistics:

Inflation Since 1872

The 10 year moving average is 1.68% that does not mirror our 5 year average DYI went to Minneapolis Fed here are the last 5 years “official” numbers: (1.5+1.6+0.1+1.3+2.0) / 5 = 1.3%  Houston?  “We have a problem!”  If you feel like the chipmunk on the circular flywheel that you see at the pet store; you are absolutely correct due to all of the massive budget deficits and QE the money supply has ballooned causing huge price increases.  Simple as that!
