As a long time student of WWII this Truth Dig article is spot on as how the war was won against the Nazi war machine.

 

The Soviet Union took the entire brunt of the fighting and more importantly the dying not just with military deaths but with massive civilian dead. [Estimations as high as 50 million dead and untold amounts severely wounded]. 

Americans have been spoon fed propaganda that the U.S. was instrumental in the downfall of Germany.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  As Americans the only war that is some what close to the Soviet experience was our civil war [War of Northern Aggression].  Even as horrific as that was in my judgement only about 25% of what the Russian people experienced.  Maybe some day a more enlighten American politician will be more forthcoming with the truth and set the record straight especially for the Russian people.
